“October 5th” is coming just right around the corner. It seems as if the past month or two have simply been flying by!
Tonight and tomorrow we will attend the child birthing classes at the hospital. We are a little late, but back when we booked it two months ago, all the earlier classes were booked!!! Must be a baby boom in the city!
Amy was worried that she may go into labor before the classes, but now it looks like we are in the clear! And hey, if not, we’ll be at the hospital ready to go! ;-(
Look for more frequent updates when Ben arrives!!!!! I’ll get back to the podcast, and even post the first vidcast!
Hi Brian (& Amy, & Ben, too)-
Every once in a while I’ll check back on your blog site, to see how you, all, are doing – it’s so reassuring to see how beautifully everything is progressing.
When I see something that reminds me of things we went through when “we” were pregnant, it’s all I can do to keep from commenting to you,
but I have way to much to say, most of the time, and would probably drive you crazy, if I communicated with you as often as I think of things.
I attempted to start my own blog, but am evidently hoplessly blog-disabled, and when I tried to record my writings on it – they didn’t show up, when I went to my page, so I haven’t notified you of my new blog site… because I really don’t have it yet! If I ever figure it out – I will let you know.
I digress, though – this particular blog reminded me of our prenatal classes, and how much fun, and funny it turned out to be. We only had a few weeks left, too, b4 giving birth. Since Ben was our first child, I was pretty freaked out by being pregnant, (along with having an enjoyable experience, as well, of course) and couldn’t wait to get into the class to learn as much as possible…
We lived in NYC, at the time, and when we arrived at the first one – our teacher explained that we would be having a guest – A famous person, who was doing research for his upcoming movie,
(truthfully, I don’t remember the name of it, just now) attending
along with us – You may not know Alan Alda, but he, and his male director, showed up shortly after we had been told that he would be coming, and they sat next to my husband and myself. Not being one to keep my mouth shut, very much, I leaned toward them, introduced David and myself, shook both of their hands and said to them…
“Welcome to our pregnancy class – and which one of you is having the baby?”
They laughed, hard, at my question and claimed they would somehow work it into the movie. I don’t know if they actually did.
That was the begining of the class – and although we learned a lot during the sessions, much of it went right out the window when I was in labor, and for the first few weeks after Ben was born. I guess we retained some of it, since he has grown up and gone off to college, after all. But so much of having and raising children seems to be in the ability to fly by the seat of your pants – and we’ve discovered that if you can master that – you’ve got it made! (lol)
I’ll keep my eye on your site for more of your great adventure, and continue to wish you all the best.
